I'm a great fan of Churchill, despite all his faults, but even compared to Franco (or Hitler, or even Genghis Khan - sorry Mick!) you are going to struggle to get the label "communist" to stick to him. If only because he'd be laughing too much to stay still long enough.

I am a great fan of Churchill because of his faults, but I am certain that Franco would have treated the treason in the Imperial posessions as a communist plot. And I'm equally sure that, born in part of the Spanish Empire Churchill would have said "If Franco were to oppress the gates of hell, I should at least discuss the Devil's predicament in the next meeting of the resistance."
