There is another club in York but its further away and on a night I cant really do. They're much more lively and welcoming and do have the "everyone gets to game" policy. Far more Sci-Fi and whatever is in fashion games though, but I get the impression most clubs are.

Clubs are a strange animal, in some you get a top notch welcome and in others they look at you as if a bad smell has just blown in. The Loughton Strike Force, home of "General de Brigade" made me feel very welcome when I pitched up there out of the blue, many years ago. It helped that Dave Brown and I knew each other a bit, but had some great times there, only stopped because I moved to Suffolk. The New Buckenham lads, again a great bunch of guys and very welcoming, but a little strict in their gaming and too fond of "Black Powder" and Napoleonics for my taste, and a fair old drive away, so I let that tail off. I am more than happy now with just the Ayton game once a year, and any other LAW games we can get sorted or occasional visits to the Schloss by fellow Ayton/LAW stalwarts that venture out to darkest East Anglia. That's proven to be my ideal like minded group. Plus, no matter how good the club is, there is always that element that contribute absolutely nothing in terms of organising a game or providing troops, but pitch up expecting to play, and I have little time for that as they are nearly always assholes to boot.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
