Small & Shiny

Post by Buff Orpington »

Following on from a Fram chat, that wicked Count is trying to persuade people to rebase their 19th Cent Spencer Smiffs and give them a couple of coats of gloss varnish. Tim W is considering giving his 18th Cent troops the same treatment. This idea could fly. I have a box of plastic SS figures for the AWI. I think the vendor was Peeler's Quality Tat. A couple of guns, half a dozen Indians and some light dragoons could see two small forces at a modest cost. SS figs do have the right look for shiny games.

As regards dabbling in big toys, I am thinking about it, Brunswickers were tempting, black everything with blue facings for infantry and yellow for gunners but I'm not sure the falling plume shako heads would pass muster as horse tails. If I want a mainstream army I shall go for French. They represent my true qualities, Elegance, Elan and Incompetence.

He’s a bad man that Count. I’ve been thinking about shiny-ing my 1866 Austrians all afternoon (possibly a euphemism)

The AGW rules explicitly cater for 18th/AWI so will definitely work.

Most of my 18th cen I got from Paul and is still unpainted. Definately makes sense to make them into AGW armies.

The future's bright, the future's shiny!

Way ahead of you, I shinied up a few Spencer Smiths a while ago to see what they looked like. They look just fine.
