Meant to get this up over Christmas but I've been a miserable bastard and not got round to it... There was a desire expressed for a New Year Challenge so here it is! Same format as last time (which was on the old Crapatalk forum and took me ages to find!). The Challenge runs from 1st Jan 2019 until 30th April 2019 so basically is a driver for a lot of Ayton stuff. Each participant chooses a points target based on the following scheme. I know the point system isn't perfect but it's just for a personal guide and not a competition.
The Scoring
3mm foot figure = 0.5 point
3mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 1 point
3mm vehicle = 2 points
6mm foot figure = 1 point
6mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 2 point
6mm vehicle = 4 points
10mm foot figure = 2 point
10mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 4 points
10mm vehicle = 8 points
15mm foot figure = 3 points
15mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 6 points
15mm vehicle = 12 points
20mm foot figure = 4 points
20mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 8 points
20mm vehicle = 16 points
28mm foot figure = 5 points
28mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 10 points
28mm vehicle = 20 points
40/42mm foot figure = 7 points
40/42mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 15 points
40/42mm vehicle = 28 points
54mm foot figure = 10 points
54mm mounted figures, artillery piece or crew served weapon = 20 points
54mm vehicle, limber, etc. = 40 points
Let me know your total ASAP and I'll update the table and add/remove people as requested. You can post images here if needed or create your own painting challenge thread in the Gallery and just use this to lay claim to your points!
Not to mention photographing them from different angles to multiply them.....
Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.) Baron Mannshed von Wreckedoften, First Sea Lord of the Bavarian Admiralty.
I was thinking of asking to join in, but obviously posting proof photographs here is an issue for me, although I'm more than happy to post them on my fb page "The Officer's Mess". But as I paint mainly 54mm and 42mm my figures might be a tad inflated. I just did a rough count of 2018's efforts (and converted the numbers into points) and it worked out at 1,035 for 28mm, 1,669 for 42mm, and 1,170 for 54mm, I don't know how that compares. But the whole idea does seem like a good motivator.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
Robert Avery runs a similar one on www.vislardica.com for followers of the lardies fb, forum and yahoo groups, which I do add entries to. But this one here might tempt me, been finishing a lot of 6mm epic the last few weeks.
