Fantasy armies using the Minifigs D&D range esp the orcs, hobgoblins, gnolls, goblins and kobolds. Caliver have frustratingly re-released a tiny smattering of items from this range but not enough to build an army.
And also the The Valley of the Four Winds range! I've got a few but would love to find some more.

I bought virtually the whole set from 'dungeons and starships' in brum ( I may have the shop name wrong)all I've got left is a jet bike pretty sure I left the rest with the ex wife so they've gone for a Burton.
I'm a bit too young to have nostalgia. My wargaming was Esci box sets of plastic figures. Only became aware of metal figures when I stumbled on the Little Soldier wargames shop in York, bought some Essex 25mm Napoleonics but never bothered with the four that I could afford.
But! If I could turn back the clock I would buy Britains Deetail counter boxes and all the vehicles in vast quantities.
Hmm not sure really. Although I’m 8 generations after all you saga holidayers - I started by finding a Donald Featherstone by accident in a library. So all my early gaming was literally buying plastic soldier sets from revel, escort and airfix from local model shop and copying that style.
The plastic figure sets were less than £3 then I’m sure.
I had no idea that there was even magazines until years later when I saw a Wargames Illustrated in WH Smith’s and realised there was shit loads of all these weird metal companies as well!
I have literally no interest in buying those plastic figures again.
I do fancy it in Hinton Hunt or that sort of period miniature and will do it sometime. For the crack.
I prefer wargaming now where I can afford everything I want but now don’t have the time to enjoy them...
And you can buy houmous now.

Old pre-slotta Citadels definitely. I sent back the only Peter Laings I ever ordered because they were shite. Laserburn and medieval TTGs were, and still are, great.
The whole hobbgly is infused with nostalgia because despite all the new projects we embark on, we still look to re-capture what we had, or wanted to have, in the past.

Etranger - I have a bunch of VFW stuff. Can bring to a show next year and hand over to you. Hasn't been touched in 35 years+ so unlikely I'll ever do anything with it.

Wargaming wise I would buy some Peter Laing 15mm and a hefty collection of the Traveller 15mm miniatures.
Much of the Traveller range is still available through RAFM in Canada.
