I think steel is good for bases, and it's magnetic to boot.

Looking great Purps. I hope you didn’t make the same mistake I did and bought galvanized steel? Otherwise you’ll spend ages like I did rust proofing them

Once the basing is finished just spray figures and base with WD40. Job done...

I think 'painted' is a great look. Nice one. Metal bases is madness, however.
