A mate bought me this book for Christmas (he knows me well).

A Russian aviation expert admitting lend-lease aircraft were useful to the USSR ? That's new.
I was hoping for a bit more on the political side such as the Anglo-Soviet agreement of 1941 (which pre dated Lend-Lease) but was slightly disappointed as he kind of skims over the political aspects.
The other 500 pages are utterly brilliant though. This book covers everything and Mr Kotelnikov must be praised for breaking the mould of Soviet/Russian revisionism. He doesn't play down the importance of foreign aircraft and even points out how crap some Soviet aircraft were in comparison.
My favourite bit ? The Soviets called all US aircraft by their British names (Tomahawk, Kittyhawk, Boston etc) because the first example they recieved usually came from Britain, with British manuals.
So I just had to knock up a couple of models from the (excellent) colour plates: Tomahawk IIBs of the 1126th Regiment.

In turn I will refrain from disparaging comments on your tiny goat.

Back in my BAe days, we had quite a lot of stuff on the Hurricanes supplied from Kingston to the USSR. Unfortunately, for most of my time there, the Cold War was still going and we were told to downplay (ie never, ever mention) it. Shame, as we had some good photo stock.

So I was crawling through my leadpile when I discovered a couple of Heroics CR42s. So I did then in Corpo Aereo Italiano colours ready to spread death and destruction on Essex.

Having just written the wokka wokka (airmobile) rules for my game I was forced to buy a few more choppers. Then I decided to base them for the rules (I've never permanently based aircraft before). So I looked at those barren-looking 60 x 60 bases and decided to make them into small dioramas. Here are the results.

Despite them being so tiny I do find myself liking those a lot.
