Yer, Simon you do the rules much credit. The figures and combat units look great. Also cracking terrain by Purps. Attacking a BUA is a bit of a fine art. If you don't want to get a bloody nose then keep well away. If you are attacking it then make sure you have plenty of Fire Support to get you in and for best results attack from more than one side at the same time. Simples !

All you need to do is send some money to Leon and the pain will go away...

I have some 10mm Napoleonics. Very skinny they are, certainly not Pendraken. Maybe I'll have a play. Everyone says such nice things about DBN.

I'll add that to the list of things to do.......................

In all seriousness, excellent rules Alex. It’s remarkable how much thought as a commander you have to put into each turn. You really do feel like an army commander making big decisions.

We played the scenario twice and both games were completely different.
Looking back, the narratives were great. In the second game, Simon was attacking and kept rolling 6 for his caps and his Austrian attack was pushed high up the table, rapidly surrounding the town.
All I could was sit inside and wait and have my lights fire and fallback. I genuinely thought he’d capture the town in 5 turns...
Then Literally in the nick of time I rolled a six for my reinforcements and they ploughed forward in counter attack and got a bit fortunate.
Not very many games can you fight sweeping battles where ground is lost and then won back and then fought to conclusion in two hours!
Now to plan my armies...

You should do a video on how an attack on a BUA and garrisoning works. There are a few rules to get right and as you say it’s a fine art. I’d find it really useful to see how a master does it. And how Peeler does it.

Good idea Simon and sadly Peeler is quite good at it, however filming him for public consumption is often difficult.
There are some subtle nuances when attacking two adjoining BUA. Of course this is a rare but interesting tactical situation on the DBN battlefield. The logical tactic is to attack them one at a time and attacking from inside one BUA into the adjoining BUA can be effective as they will be charging from concealed cover and if pushed back they will go back into concealed cover (they will not get shot up). Also remember 'Garrisons' can not 'Support' a Close Combat and can not initiate a Close Combat that often keeps things simpler.
Purps, your thoughts and positive comments on the rules say exactly what me & Bob wanted to achieve when we created and developed these rules and they must also give a fun game.
I will talk with peeler and hopefully he will remember what I said.

Good to see Purps continuing a proud and slightly regular tradition of spanking the goat. And it does look very pretty.

Now stop showing me pictures of 10mm. I do not need another scale!
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

I’m suspicious of any rule set, and indeed and period, that allows Purps to win. It goes against the laws of nature!
