The 3D printed aircraft arrived from Stanford Le Hope via Barking this morning.
So are they good enough to be recognised? To paraphrase that old aussie pervert, Can you tell what they are?
The surface is somewhat bobbly but that was expected. I'll have to see how well that can be smoothed over. What are people buying?

I hear that the surface is like blotting paper and you need a lot of primer.

Is that a German swordfish clone?

Re: What are people buying?
Not a clone but it was designed to do the same job.
Re: What are people buying?
The Fiesler Fi 167 looks ok, although the struts might be a little thick, aesthetically. The Heinkel looks a bit odd. In the photograph at least the dorsal turret doesn't look right...maybe in the 'flesh' it is more accurate?
(Then again my dodgy internet connection hasn't fully loaded the second picture so maybe it isn't an He 111 at all )

Is it a Caproni? There was a whole series of models with a similar appearance. Ca 311 or similar. Glazed nose & a row of windows down the side.
I recognised the German one.

Yes the first one is the Fiesler Fi 167. Designed to be the torpedo bomber on the Graf Zepplin.
The second is a Caproni Ca.313 reconnaissance bomber.
I'll post pics when painted.

Re: What are people buying?
Probably why it looks odd for a Heinkel then ....although in fairness I only had the top half of the picture available
The strength of 3D printing is the potential to get hold of the less well known military equipment.
Look forward to seeing them painted.

Thick struts are needed to meet the minimum printing requirements, they also make the plane stronger. In 1:300 scale, if you are taking a micrometer to the struts you need to be sent away from the game with a flight stand where the sun don't shine. I still reckon those planes are more anatomically correct than some FOW figs I have seen.
And yes, the Heinkel has an Italian look.
