Holland 44
Holland 44
For those that are interested. I recently purchased 'Holland 44' this is a board game by GMT and is all about Operation Market Garden. I played it with my Son Jordan over the last couple of days and for those that are interested in strategic board games I would highly recommend it. I have been into strategic board games for many years and this is the 'new generation' with much more clever detail within the units/counters and that plays easily. As expected the Allies tried but failed.

Re: Holland 44
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this game. And it looks great too

Roughly how long does a game take, Alex.

Its a 'big game' not a game you could play in an evening. The so called 'short game' lasts 11 turns the full game 20 turns. A turn can take anything from 30 to 50 mins. the rules arnt complicated or difficult to learn (they are written for Americans) but they are …..comprehensive. One day of real historical time is 3 game turns (AM,PM,Night) one Hex is 2 KM. A very nicely presented game and IMO very well considered and historically accurate.

Thanks Alex. Very helpful.
It's probably not the sort of game I'm looking for. About two to three hours of play would be about right.

From what I've heard of your tabletop generalship, even 2-3 hours would be pushing it a bit. Anyone who can lose swathes of cavalry in a single turn can get Horrocks' XXX Corps wiped out on a single, narrow road in a few hours.
