Here's a Polish Chasseur a Cheval eagle-bearer I've converted from a trumpeter, with the addition of some brass wire and a Polish Eagle cut from an old Battle Honours Polish infantryman (also sculpted by Tony Barton in his pre-AB days):

The eagle looks a tad uncomfortable, but I suppose you couldn't perch it on your shoulder, it'd rip all the lace off.

The chap on foot is obviously out on a night in the town and he will have the girls queueing up for a bit of that.

That's why eagles always stand with their wings out like that when you see them on standards - it's a natural reflex reaction to having a pole shoved up their arse.
