I use cheap full fat bleach to strip old figures.

This is an old battered Hinton Hunt Bruswicker before the dip.



After the dip the detail of this old figure is revealed in its full glory.

excellent results. I take it that was enamelled and varnished too ? How long do you steep in the bleach for and how much scrubbing do you need to get it as clean as photo'd ?

This figure was enamelled and varnished Depending on how thick the paint/varnish is I allow between 8 and 12 hours depending on how much paint needs stripping and during the bleaching period I shake the jar and check how the stripping is going.

To remove the paint I use a good old stiff tooth brush, washing up liquid and plenty of water. It takes a couple of minutes to strip the old paint back to the metal. Once the figure is dry I remove any stubborn paint with a fine file.

Have done the same with many, many thousands (yes, I used the "t" word) of 2nd Generation 15mm Minifigs. My dreams now all have the smell of Dettol in them......

With bleach none the paint just dissolves into the bleac.

Dettol on the other hand I found very gooey.
