I've played a couple of games and you're right... MTBs are not going to last long against S-boats...
Mind you, the Fairmiles didn't do too well against the S-100s either... apparently storing torpedoes on deck is dangerous
WW2 must have been fought before Health & Safety was a Thing.

Hence MGBs being the prefered option, then it is them worrying about torpedos exploding rather than you. It has kinda piqued my interest, but only looking as yet.

Mind you if you think MTBs are lightweight, look at what the Italians were using... as with their aircraft, fast, sleek, elegant.. and then they forgot to put any guns on...

It is sad that the only classic torpedo attack in history was foiled by Jellicoe's turn away. The surface actions in the pacific saw extensive use of torps (once the yanks fixed theirs) but nothing like the sort of cavalry charges we used to do under Pretcher flatt.
