Kickstarting the Ayton games (with Peeler), by taking a throwaway remark on the previous forum and between us sourcing the venue and getting a date. We'd have done it if it had just been me and him, but wow were we impressed. And ten years on it's still going

Definitely the winner. Well done guys. The events, the gaming ,the spin-offs and above all the friendships that have resulted are things to be treasured
Point of order, Mr Speaker... credit should be given for the - already well-established - tradition of Ayton weekend games. They were Uriah & Peeler co-productions: massive GdeB Napoleonic epics. LT, Dave “GdeB” Brown, Joe Dever, Cacadores on one memorable occasion, and my own scurrilous self among others.

Fulsome credit to Tim H. for dusting it off and getting it going again after Peeler & Uri’s Parting Of The Ways, though - top job.

What's that you say? It's all down to the creation of G de B mega-games? In that case, as the organiser of the very first G de B mega-games at AB Figures and the National Army Museum, I would like to claim credit. :moredrink: :finger:

Oh yes, there were some (I think three?) pre LaW type chaps Ayton games, at which Norman & LT were attendees. I'd forgotten about them!

Not widely publicised LAW or WD3 games though so not really the same thing....i've casually played guitar with Andy Barnett but that doesn't mean i'm in the Roger Daltrey Band or FM
I'll give full credit to Peeler and Hall. :moredrink:

Bless you Paul, but Monsieur Overlord is not incorrect, it's because I was aware of those lesser events (ha ha) that I chose Ayton as our most likely venue, that, and knowing that Peeler had access to such a wonderful facility. I am loathe to give certain people named in Norm's post credit though, NB That does not apply to Senor Largest Seaborne Invasion in History.

Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

IIRC there were four, of which I attended three. I know Alex and Jordan, Major Bob and Richie were in on at least a couple, and on one occasion Ayton Legend Hairy Dave remained on the earthly plane long enough to push toy soldiers around the table.
Dave Brown usually brought a couple of people with him, and I’m sure a couple of WD/LA regulars must have been at some of them.
LT & the late Joe Dever I’ve mentioned.
(If I’ve forgotten anybody, in my defence, I was very, very drunk.)

Aren't they more commonly referred to by their band name - Hall & Scrotes?

Which makes sense as if you look at the lyrics to ‘Maneater’ they are clearly about Gaynor

Are we still bragging? I just remembered I won the Pendraken painting comp a few years ago too. I hardly ever mention that.
