I think it was gin & tonic, last time I saw you...
Still pints though, right?

There you go.......a silk purse.
Excellent glazed effect.
Cheers! I've been using that method for a while now - basically because whenever I've been in the air, I've found that cockpits on other aircraft look black (with a bit of glint) and not sky-blue, which is how most wargamers seem to do 'em. My early efforts (using just gun-metal on black) weren't brilliant, but adding a bit of silver does seem to improve the method:

I like the MI 1.
Yeah, she's a cutie. Those East German Nubee kits actually have plenty of detail and the moulding is pretty good. I've already got an Mi-4 'Hound' and an unmade Mi-6 'Hook' (which is HUGE). It's just that they tend to be fiddly bastards to stick together.
What I REALLY want is an Mi-2 'Hoplite' scout helicopter, as it's rather more 1980s than the Mi-1 'Hare' (which was first produced in 1951), but nobody does an Mi-2 in 1/100th. That said, the Mi-1 was still hanging on in low-category mobilisation units and Warsaw Pact armies and the book 'First Clash' refers to 'Hare' scouts rather than 'Hoplites', so that's good enough for me.
That canopy technique works really well (I suspect even more so when looking at them "normally" rather than from a close up angle).

I have tried something similar, but less effective. The windows are painted gloss black, then I mix silver with a dash of metallic blue. The upper surfaces are wet painted, then a dry brush is put on the side once that is dry.
Well the Hare and the Kiowa are finished. Now got the Transall under the brush and the Pumas assembled and undercoated. I still need more Pumas (I've got three, but could use about six for the game), so if anyone's got any Heller 1/100th Pumas going spare, please let me know!
