Been a while since I could post here as I forgot my password and the site steadfastly refused to send me a password till today (hoping it was nothing personal heheh)
Well my enjoyment of Saga still has me at the enthusiastic stage. Recently our "local" group held a crusades themed tournament and I was asked to make up the numbers. Investigated new buys but CBA soon put a stop to that and then on a quiet shelf in a dusty corner of the bunker I discovered my Ghazanavid army built for WRG 5th edition. (yeah go figure). Now a large chunk of it was made up of Dixon very generic steppe warriors. I can do this! . So after some rebasing I had a 6 pt Cuman army of very old figures. The horses painted with artists tube acrylics and the riders with humbrol.. They aren't as bad as I thought they might be after 35-40 years and whatsmore we came first and won a Spanish medieval army. (FFS more painting).
Sounds like a good day's work (apart from the "more painting" obviously,.....).

Pleased to hear you enjoyed it. For such a simple game it has a depth of complexity that only becomes more apparent each time you play. I really enjoy it.
I snatched defeat from the jaws of certain victory, twice, if you must know. I've no idea how I was nearly winning, nor how I managed to turn it round at the last minute. Great system though.
I've played Saga a few times, all be it 1st edition and a years ago. I remember enjoying it but feeling it lacked something. Well done on winning a prize playing it, especially as you weren't using one of the 'power' armies
