I believe plastic sprue is a type of polystyrene oh pedantic one.

I used to do quite well with sprue and candles. But you have to cook a long section and then get help pulling it whilst keeping the sprue passing lengthways above the flame. Two people can make enough string for a small airforce in about 15 minutes.

Thats how I made lances for my Airfix Cuirassiers that I converted into French Guard lancers. Some 45 years ago. FFS I even trimed bits of plastic card for the top of the czapa!

Is the opening photo indicative of the size of groups we'll need for this game if we're bringing our own?

I haven't worked it out yet Paul. I was thinking originally in the region of 10 figures but the larger number of players might mean downsizing it slightly. I need to test it out a few times before being sure. I'm imagining players will need a core of separately-based line infantry types and 1 or 2 specialists (Sergeant, Grenadier, Pioneer or similar sorts )

Excellent! I found a few packs of more interesting Foundry C18th figures whilst tidying, like the Smugglers and Duelists packs. So I might paint a few of those, rather than use the ones I was originally going to bring if the forces were larger.

I’ve decided I’m going to go with Pirates for this theme. Breaking into the city to open the gates for the rest of their blood thirsty brethren or perhaps breaking out of the city to return to their ships (which ever Simon sees as fitting in with the scenario). Now, who aside from Wargames Foundry make good pirates that won’t cost an arm and a leg?

I'm sure you know of these two...although you'll need to find a zombie monkey elsewhere
