Bought SPQR, starting to wish I hadn't with all the complaining on the supporting fb page. Guys at the club seem interested so will see. Nearly finished some Caesarian Legionaries that LT sent me and added some more with gladius drawn.

Hotel gave me a box of Vikings last Chrimbo and I'm itching to paint them up and have been thinking of some nearly all plastic Dark age armies, inspired by Vonkettinghams collections.

Basement Mark bought the starter and pretty much all the add ons while he was at Claymore. He seems happy with it all. I've had a look at the rules and am not immediately grabbed, but I don't think the plastic the figures are made from is as crap and bendy as some people are claiming.
If it gets Mark back into gaming it's something i'll be happy to play, even with my rules reservations.

Just ordered Kings of War Historical from Northstar for the bargain price of £1! In fact I bought two, one for a friend who is a KoW player, might tempt him into playing some historical stuff with me?

Hi all!
Some of you may remember me from various forums on the internet- Mainly28s refers to my passion in figure collecting, as well as http://www.mainly28s.com, where I used to post reviews and comparisons. My main focus has been 1910-1945 recently (I did a bit of work for Bolt Action Miniatures before Warlord bought them out), but Ancients (specifically 950-1300) has long been a passion.

I've been involved in WAB for many a year (I helped push WAB in my local group when it was still a set of articles in Wargames Illustrated, and participated in the First Online Army List Competition), then participated in a few tournaments here in the UK. I dropped out when the competition scene got too much for me, but have re-ignited my interest after a chat with Henry Hyde recently. As he is planning to do his imaginations campaign, I mentioned that I have a Norman army ready (mostly Old Glory and Gripping Beast), as well as a second in the wings (mainly Battlestandard Miniatures from before they disappeared), plus a Byzantine one (mostly Crusader Miniatures) purchased. He then referred me here.
If you'll have me, I'd be happy join in- I'm on the Kent/East Sussex border.

Hi Mainly - great to see you here. Yes of course please join in. This thread and the Kanban is mainly to help people focus on our resurgent interest in Ancients, with many of us focusing on WAB compatibility as a ruleset - but that’s not compulsory ! Whether and when we actually get to play games with them is somewhat unclear at the moment but , well it’s the journey that counts :)

Alongside this Henry is also considering doing his hyborian style thingy and it’s best to contact him direct about that. It overlaps with this thread but you don’t have to want to be in a full blown campaign to be part of the pointy stick painting fun

I’m sure you’d love to be down on the kanban - Byzantines and “in prep” stage ?

Yup- WAB it is. I'm more of a "1.0" than "1.5" or "2", but as 1.5 seems to be more popular, I'm happy to go with it. Henry's invitation to his Hyborian "thingie" is what got me here, so that's covered. Put down my Normans as a "Done and ready to play" and the Byzantines as "Purchased, need to be unpacked and cleaned while planning how to get more to complete the list", as I have discovered that I need more cavalry!
