The 28/30mm will be on the Saturday and the bigger boys, 40/42mm, on the Sunday...Is that right?

Tim W is a splendid fellow and very nearly correct. The correct base is one which has eight sides - an octagon, no less. They roll not and can't, much to Mr Goat's chagrin, be used as hard cover.

Base sizes - it really doesn't matter. Single figure based figures work well given the rules but size or shape is up to you

The games menu for Saturday, at present would seem to consist of a shiny 30 mm ACW game that EB and I will be offering, very old school, not huge numbers of units, 20 figure Infantry and 12 figure cavalry units, and one gun model depicting a battery. (Iain and I have set ourselves a personal target of each of us having a Confederate and a Union army, each army consisting of 6 infantry regiments, one cavalry regiment and two guns). At least that is the target, it might end up as a case of fighting with whatever we have completed between us. Next I see a 30 mm battle, set somewhere in the 19th century brewing between those amongst us who have numbers of perfectly good but under-employed and suitable figures, that they have enhanced with a judicious application of gloss varnish. Sunday will be the occasion of large full blooded 42 mm shiny game, in which the doughty and stalwart forces of Britannia will stand against hordes of dubious foreigners.

If anybody else has an idea or game that will fit in then I am sure we are keen to hear about it. Rules mainly in use will be "A Gentleman's War", but other rules are available I am informed.
