Interesting that nobody seems to make Rangers houses.....

Rangers live in mansions, not bloody hovels.

Saxons over here seem to have liked rectangles and I remember reading that they are the same as the ones in their areas in Europe but I wonder if it varied between so many tribes over such a large area. After all they probably didn't know they were even Germans until the Romans beat them over the head and told them loudly and slowly in Latin.

Well, that generated an unfortunate flashback to my school days.....

Yup, People in 'Germanic' areas seem to have built predominantly rectangular timber framed or wattle structures. The one complication when researching those though is that European Academia refers to the 'Iron Age' as going right up to at least 1000AD rather than the UK convention that the Iron Age is generally distinct from the Roman, Post Roman and Early Medieval periods.

It does seem strange, to UK educated people, that they take the Iron age up virtually to the High Medieval though....our funny European cousinsFreddBloggs wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:55 am But most of germany did not have a roman era, so makes sense.
