Austrian flagpoles (not a euphemism)
Re: Austrian flagpoles (not a euphemism)
Donald - do you paint the flag before or after sticking it to the pole?
Re: Austrian flagpoles (not a euphemism)
Paint? Austrian flags?? I use paper ones like anyone suffering from Delirium Tremens would.

From Summerfield, Austrian Seven Years War Infantry and Engineers (2011), Chapter 9, Infantry Colours, Page 156: " The flagpoles had a golden finial and werre decorated with black and yellow spirals of cloth. The streamers were gold or silver depending upon the regimental button colour."
So, paint one colour, with a stripe in the other. A bit easier than 4 colours.

Painting Austrian flagpoles is clearly a job for real men...

You could buy flags with the spiral thing is printed on? Or use the free Warflags flags?
Or, could you ask a small child to paint the stripes on for you?

Is that what you told the judge?

Thanks, ET. I remember Summerfield from the awful Napoleonic flame wars on TMP. He, unfortunately, participated in them but I think his scholarship is sound? I have his cossacks book which I think fairly exhaustive & reliable.Etranger wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 4:12 am From Summerfield, Austrian Seven Years War Infantry and Engineers (2011), Chapter 9, Infantry Colours, Page 156: " The flagpoles had a golden finial and werre decorated with black and yellow spirals of cloth. Two colours are possible on 20mm....even if I'm not a "Real" man but a poorly assembled facsimile from some factory in the Near East (actually from the 'Wild West" aka Glasgow).
