I used to have a flat in Calver Mill which is where they filmed Colditz and I know many of Toplis's (the monocled mutineer) present day family. As for my favourites:

The Last Kingdom
Sharpe
Tour of Duty
War and Peace (both series)
Piece of Cake

Ken Burns is a good call, slipped my mind, catch 22 being anti war, might not count!

Ken Burns ACW
Generation War (German miniseries)
Band of Brothers
Pacific (as above)
Generation Kill
Aeronauts - https://youtu.be/E6TVcRwXsZ0
Battlestar Gallactica - counts since you can tabletop wargame it with miniatures
The Water Margin
Anzacs (How have you all missed this? I used to be "ill" from school to watch it)
Spartacus

Tim made a good call with The Flashing Blade but as much as I loved it when I was 7 I tried watching it about 10 years ago and it just didn't live up to the memories, except the title credits.

Can't beleive you all missed Anzacs.. (Shakes head)

I think there is an implied ban on anything including Mel Gibson in the cast.

Herr Baron you are confusing the movie Gallipoli with the TV series ANZACS, which was pretty good and had all five Australian TV actors in it.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
