If you're not in a desperate hurry, Newline tend to have a couple of 20/25% sales each year.......not that they're expensive in the first place.
Thanks Iain. I might start with a small order just to test the waters and then go big when there's a sale on. As usual, the scope of my project has rather expanded.
Why us? Cos we're 'ere lad, nobody else.

and since we all know Gary's definition of a small order I am genuinely terrified of what 'go big' might actually mean....

With my Steppe nomad type army basically finished (I just need to do some Timurid command and a Heffalump) I have been drawn to revisiting my old Dark age stuff. As I rebased a lot of it for skirmishing I've only got half a Saxon army and no Vikings based up for WAB so it gives me a good excuse to paint up some more.
However that either means diving into the Garage of Doom and looking for the lost boxes of treasure(ie wargames stuff) or spending cold hard cash and buying some more(which seems daft as there's around 1000 Dark Age figures in the treasure boxes!). So i'll have to think about it before buying some more :)

In other news I've been playing about with rules and have realised that whilst twenty something year old me loved WAB, grumpy old git me doesn't.....or WAC it's natural successor. Luckily I don't often play games so rules aren't so much an issue for me anymore though :D

Thanks muchly
Late to the party but yes. All my early Wowmans are Newline. I bought a load at a show at silly discount. I think a bag of 24 figures was working out at £17 a bag/unit. They're cheap n' cheerful. Some pises better than others, my Triari are better detailed that the lighter troops. I ended up using Aventine for the Velites as I wanted a bit more variety in pose. Aventine are very nice! I got those cheap too from Colonel Bill.

I just got the wargaming pioneers vol. 4 book, which contains Tony Bath's first set of rules and now I know what all the Hyboria references are about. Well, I sort of did but not the background. Very interested now and my Seljuk(ish) Turks will be perfect. Still basing them as for a 25mm DbA army but Tony Baths rules will still work with a bit of tweeking.
