Very interested in these too and the ECW/TYW period set from the same family Twilight of the Divine doodah or something like that!
I hear they 'nicked' a concept from something I wrote and only used in my own home....they must have spies everywhere :D :D

I shall wait for the G&T to wear off and then post some notes (not a good time to hold your breath in anticipation).

I'm not shocked you've already been at the drinks cabinet but I am shocked that you've already decided to stop!

Stretched out a good 6 or 7 inches, on the verge of a prolapse. Oh wait... that's the other thread.

The trouble with gin is that it's very moreish. Anyway.......

The Boardgame Geek has posted some notes on the rules, which means I don't have to.......

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/304 ... enteenth-c

I think you'd have to read though the rules a couple of times and play a game to get a grip on them. Shooting and melee is much simplified, although I confess that I'm not entirely sure on how the results are calculated. It seems that in general your units take four hits before being removed, but suffer disorder or worse with each hit. Morale and motivating troops plays a big part, according to the intro. I can believe that.

There are interesting things such as "Events" (random stuff than can mess with your head), Command Cards (which randomly activate the army wings of either army), Commander Characteristics, Terrain generator, Scouting.....stuff.

A single 3" x 1.5" base represents a brigade of between 900 and 1200 foot or 400 to 600 horse. Double brigades or earlier tercios pop themselves down on a 3" square base. The rules suggest 6mm to 15mm but I suppose you could use bigger figures, maybe even opting for scaling up the base dimensions, but why bother? There is provision for some smaller formations such as companies......I suppose these would be commanded shot perhaps?

Each turn, army commanders issue order markers to army Wing commanders - placed face down until activated. Wing commanders have a unique card placed in a deck (both armies, same deck, shuffled each move). Flip the first card, that wing commander moves all his units in accordance with the orders. Flip the next card, and so on.

The range of a musket is 3". Field artillery 12". A standard foot brigade, would throw 2D6 for shooting. The target gets a saving throw. Movement seems to be fabulously quick......12" for a foot brigade 18" for horse (faster still if in march column!). Fortunately there are zones of control, "Combat Zones", to put the breaks on some silliness.

The designers say they're assuming a 6' x 4' table!

Victory is achieved by breaking the army's will.

I imagine the rules will be simple to play once digested.

Nice piccies.

I went ahead and ordered it. The command mechanism sounds a bit like C&C, which I've always enjoyed.
