Could you not do head swaps and some other work on wellingtonics cuirassiers? Actually given the frock coats they wear under the cuirasse, maybe use 1870 bodies with tricorn heads?

Head swops aren't an issue. I have a bunch of Zvesda GNW artillerymen, awaiting a chop (I bought the boxes for the guns).
I think I could use Green Stuff to lengthen short coat tails but the raw material is lacking: there seems to only be two sets with the necessary front-only cuirass. These are the HaT Nap. Austrian cuirassiers who aren't wearing the mandatory high boots
& the Zvesda Nap. Saxon cuirassiers who are OOP.

Now this is beginning to sound whiney but if I can't get something more or less right, I'll do without.

Given the price of plastics, could you not do a torso swap with some cavalry with Madame Dominatrix boots?

This sounds like something that afflicts all OOHOO SYW armies.

Donald - bit late to this, but I didn't realise that the Austrians only wore the breastplate at this time, always thought it was just a Napoleonic thing. Why not just use ordinary cuirassiers and paint the back as the coat? I would have thought the cross straps would distract the eye sufficiently.

Brendan, I'm currently nagging HaT about providing SYW heavy cavalry. I figure, going by their usual speed, they may release such a set by 2030.
