A query of no real consequence......do you have tank commanders appearing out of the the turret hatch or do you prefer the armoured vehicles buttoned up?
I'm doing a bit of work on my WW2 British and started wondering....

Re: Buttoned up?
I do a bit of both.
with British tanks it adds a point of interest by having a contrasting point of colour. German tanks with their often more complex camo less so.

Yup. Buttoned and unbuttoned as the fancy takes me

No rhyme or reason. Should there be?

I like that. I’m not a commander so can’t stick my head out the turret for fear of a bollocking

Absolutely, I have exactly the same idea. A decent chap wouldn't button up.

Re: Buttoned up?
Apparently Russian army doctrine was buttoned up, and Marine armour in the Pacific stayed buttoned up due to the risks from Japanese AT squads. I tend to do commanders in most of my vehicles, just for the visual interest, especially the 'green brigade - US, UK, as otherwise you really need to work hard to make them look interesting.

I like my tanks and stuff to have a human face.
