I would avoid Victrix at all costs, and I say this from personal experience. Their plastic is terrible, to the point where I have snapped several spears in the painting process alone.

I have to say that I hadn't heard that from any other recent purchasers. Which box was this?

Citizen spearmen, veteran African infantry and elephant in the Carthaginian range, mounted Celtic cavalry. Four different sets there. I’ve been told by people with the Romans and Gauls they’ve had similar. I seem to remember Jamie snapping some on his Auxillia.

I also think you have to work really hard to get natural poses on the Victrix. They remind me a lot in style of the static pose of the Wargames Factory, just with better detail. I really regret buying mine and have often considered flogging and replacing them

Morning Gents - have been a bit busy and a bit slack and late with my thanks

I'm really not sure what to do - I've been listening to and watching the Lardy podcasts as I paint. Maybe for the moment I'll just buy the rules and god knows I have more than enough lead and plastic to keep me occupied while I really give thought to what I want to do. I have some regrets about not having jumped on the Chain of Command bandwagon when it came out and don't want to lose out in the same way with infamy. It is early days


I like the look of Victrix but I found attempting to put together Napoleonic French infantry a bottom pain

I think Infamyx2 handles Regular vs Barbarian conflict very well, I always gave up on those games in other rules because in the end they got ‘samey’ very quickly but Infamy has sufficient detail in the conflict to keep my interest.

However, while the early bandwagon days are fun, the really interesting bit is that the Lard engine is usually sufficiently strong to allow variations to develop. I can see this being used for quite a few ancient campaigns (Greek city state seems an obvious next step) over the coming years and I’d like to see it tried for Egyptian Bronze Age kefuffles. So plenty of opportunity to buy more and different ancient armies in the near future VB

I see that "The Other Place" has taken down three threads mentioning "Infamy" including one merely asking which are the best figures to use with the rules.
