I really like the idea of 4th c. Rome, but it’s in that blind spot between ‘classic’ imperial and ‘Late’, and I don’t know of anyone who makes them, except A&A’s chunky Dorfs.

Yeah, but I didn't pay for them so I thought they might be worth a go. There is actually nothing wrong with the plastic, just the placement of the sprue. Halfway along the thinnest bit makes a weak point just where you don't want it.

You need side cutters.

I have side cutters but the point where the plastic flows in is always going to be weaker.

Re: Infamy, infamy
Ok some assistance required please. I'm just assessing the lead and plastic stocks for infamy.
And having just been paid for the first time in three months, it's time to put in a Victrix order. So here goes. Aside from some Asterix figures, for Late Republican/Caesarian Roman, I currently have 4 groups of 8 Legionaries, a single group of velites and a single group of Auxiliaries. So what should I be adding? More auxiliaries? Archers/slingers/cavalry?
In terms of Gauls, other than a few indomitable ones.. 8 cavalry, and 30 or so infantry. I am assuming I will need to bump the warrior numbers up to 50 or 60, and add chariots, slingers, and possibly archers.
The other alternative is to use the Gallic types as Roman Auxiliaries and just get a bunch of hairy Germans. (1st Corps look chunky enough!)
Any advice on suitable purchases would be helpful.

For the Romans you will need more auxiliaries, archers and some Gallic cavalry
For the Gauls, they don’t have chariots, the British do. So you will need more warriors, around 20 in armour for the nobles, more normal warriors, slingers and cavalry.
Rich has done a set of helpful videos on each list you should watch prior to purchasing

If the plastic pointy sticks are such a problem, why not replace them with brass tubing?

Gauls had chariots when republicican (pre marian) met them in 250bc and earlier.

Given our esteemed medical colleagues, why not just distribute some used needles?
What could be wrong with that - it’s basically recycling.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.
