That's the Manica?FreddBloggs wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:42 pm The Dacian change was never universal, but some legioaries were issued with a gladiator style arm guard in Trajans xampaigns, not used in Domitians though.

yep, what he said. 69AD pretty much the classic 'Asterixian Period' legions. I am going to elevate the bases and use my Metal Magic figures for deployment and ambush points. My actual Victrix are the late republic figures, so they are still using the old issue chain mail armour. and no cingulum.

While we’re on the subject, I’ve been looking around at figures and... WTF is going on with Warlord’s Celts? They’re awful. Strange, hunched, arms-wide stance that I can’t see without thinking: ‘here comes the tickle monster!’

So some of the better warlord sculpts then?
Re: Infamy, infamy
Paul you don't have to compromise. Aventine do the legionaries with manica or without so you can have two armies each to suit the ememy you'll be facing!Paul wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:30 pmCheers, If I take the plunge i'll want them to fight Dacians too, but I can cope with a minor armour difference for that.FreddBloggs wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:13 pm EIR in lorica, rectangular scutum, pila and gladius, pretty much the classic look for them. Hold through to the Severine period about AD200. Only major change is for the Dacian campaigns where some extra arm armour was used.
It is a good period, you can use them for AD61 and Boadicca, year of the 4 emperors, the batavian revolt, germans and Gauls. And Corbulo in the East.

Two per battalion I hope, with ample pictorial reference.
