What would match Lammings?

Post by tim.w »

In the event I can't get through to Tony at ERM and I'm struggling, website wont work and hasnt replied to my email yet. What would match up well with Lamming Miniatures smaller 25mm figures? I see Old Glory do a Biblical range and I've considered Hinchliffe, though they may be taller?

Happy with a classic wargames figure, no need for fancy details. Ideally cheap and cheerfull. True 25mm appreciated. Biblical era prefered.

Hinchliffe can be variable size, I’ve got some pikemen that are small enough that they would almost pass as 20mm . I suspect they’d generally go ok with your Lammings. Here’s a photo comparison from the old airfix guide

On the other hand, my Hinchcliffe froggies are nearly 28mm and built like brick conveniences.

Yeah but £1.30 per figure.

Thanks for the size guide. Will prob get a batch of Hinchliffe anyway, if they're opposition it won't matter too much.

Remember that Lammings are chunky I wouldn’t use them with Minifigs (but then I wouldn’t use current Minifigs under any circumstances). For Romans I have some Hinchliffe which work ok with Lammings. If you get on to cavalry all bids are off as the horses are monumental.

Are you in a hurry to get these figures? If not haunting eBay for a bit might be the answer.

It might also be worth looking at Tin Soldier UK. I don’t know if any of their ancient ranges would interest you and I haven’t seen them in the flesh so I don’t know about how they would match for size but the sculpting style looks compatible. I used them for some bits (pilums and scutums) for my Lamming Romans and I was very happy with them. Maybe worth getting a few samples?

I'm rather hoping that Minifigs S Range cavalry will match (broadly speaking) because I've just bought a load of it.

Cavalry comparison from the same book. The lamming horses look quite chunky Image

Looks like you have a point.

I'm not bothered, they are very pretty.
