Are you a good or bad (tabletop) general?

Seem to have a mix of pyrrich victories, crushing defeats and the odd glorious win. Nothing is ever boring.

We seem to grind to a few draws/tactical victories in DbN which I think shows the strength in its simulation of what tended to happen.

A recent Bolt Action game saw my small Elite group of Gerries sit all evening watching in dismay as our Soviet opponent managed to blow up his entire force with friendly fire. Even a last ditch attempt at an air strike produced a rookie pilot who dumped his payload on their remaining HQ by mistake.

Some of the more dramatic and memorable games have been mine and Tim's Ayton offerings. The WWII jungle game stands out as one that produced a few heroes.

As for Kumbahyah, well anything can happen!

Ruthlessness comes with a price, but one dead now, saves 10 later in war. A high butchers bill but a decisive victory, is likely to have a much lower casualty count than 3 or 4 indecisive ones or only minor victories in total.

I know this!!! That's the problem. And the figures aren't even real people. Yet still, I'm too soft.

If by some perversion of Fate, I was an actual general, what hope of me ordering my men into some sausage-grinder battle?
