Shed storage
Shed storage
Has anyone had any problems long term with storing figures and scenery, books too in a shed? Does mould and mildew become a problem? Its a water tight roof so the boxes wont get wet.

Re: Shed storage
I did store everything in a large wooden shed for about three and a half years. It was all packed in RUBs, apart from terrain boards and foam board supplies. No problems found except a slight bending in the 9mm MDF terrain boards.
Hadn’t stored books in there - don’t think I’d risk it. Have kept them in a storage unit (basically a garage) for 6 months without problems though.

I get lockdown, but I get up again.
Re: Shed storage
I should imagine if they’re in closed plastic boxes you should be alright? They’re pretty much water and airtight

Re: Shed storage
Stick some of those moisture packets in the boxes.
Re: Shed storage
I've had severe problems with condensation forming on the inside of watertight (metal and plastic) containers. Silica gel sorts it out, but it did quite a bit of damage before I realised what was happening. My main problem is from condensation forming on the underside of a metal roof and then dripping down - I lost a whole box of rules and board-games that had been reduced to black mush and some tool-boxes with figures under the dripping-points slowly started to fill up with water. The outbuilding is going to be completely refurbished next year and turned into a wargames room with insulation and heating, so that should be the end of my damp woes.

I've had mould form on the underside of unsealed MDF bases.
Re: Shed storage
My shed, actually a garden office, has no issues with moisture..........but it catches the sun all day and it gets hot. Very hot. Hotter than a snake's arse in a wagon rut.
I no longer store painted figures in there. Or lettuce.

Re: Shed storage
Mine's cool and shaded, heat wont be an issue. Spider webs however.
Re: Shed storage
I cleared out a friend's sheds a few years back.
Mice, rats, dead birds and millions of dead insects. Don't store anything for too long is my advice.

Where do you store the lettuce?
