SYW Austrian cuirassiers redux

Post by ochoin »

My project of turning Zvevda Napoleonic Saxon cuirassiers & their GNW Swedish dragoons into a unit of SYW Austrian cuirassiers is slow work.

I'm on the final 3 figures but I am clearly getting cocky. As if head, torso & leg swops weren't enough, I tried out an arm swop - putting the dragoon firing a pistol arm on a figure:
You can see the initial pinning before I put super-glue in the join:

There's always a bit of a gap, so I use white glue to fill it:

Making sure the riders fit the horses (the dragon legs are too small for the large cuirassier horses so need modifying):

The all-important undercoating:

I could do with 3 units of 'em but they're too much work so 1x12 figure unit will be all.

Looks good and interesting but you seem to have missed out the step with the mandatory banana oil
I agree its really hard summoning up the energy to do multiple conversions so well done so far

I've heard of the legendary banana oil but thought it was a wargamers' myth.

At any rate, the unit looks OK & will look better when I fill those final 3 saddles:

Excellent! They do look the dog's dangly bits. You only need banana oil for plasticene additions.
