Hedges are easy, just flock some strips of scouring pads.
I know when to go out
I know when to stay in
Get things done

Wot Buff said, mix up different sizes and colours of flock, base on strips of sommat (I use magnetic sheet). For Normandy type bocage, build a mound as the core with earthy caulk, scatter a bit of coarse sand on top, put scourers and a few bits of toothpicks on top. When the caulk is cured, flock scourers and toothle picks. Bob's yours.
Walls, check out Leon's minibits, or buy irregiular. Their scenery is great.
Buildings, buy a bit from each manufacturer, or make your own out of card(fiddly).
Roads and water courses, an old shirt and some caulk.

Brill thanks for the tips. I dont know what caulk is but will have a look.
I have all the buildings. I thought I had a huge arabic town in a box I'd not looked at for years. Turns out it wasnt that huge as half of it was European buildings and some lovely Peninsular houses by Timecast.

Get acrylic caulk, not the silicone rubber stuff. It is plastic in a tube, smooth it with a wet plastic spatula.

Re: 6mm scenery
How about using pipe cleaners. Paint them grey for walls and green and flock for hedges.

Pipe cleaners don't look like walls. But flocked, they'd make ok hedges. I like scrubbers.
