With dozens of potential sets out there to use, both published and online, many tested by a multitude of players and proven to give a decent game, we will, naturally, have to have a new and untried set written just before the weekend. By a man with a non-conformist approach to all wargaming matters. Should go well.

Yes, well, for a start, I'm going off that South African bloke....keeps asking bloody awkward questions. It had all gone nice and quiet on the subject.
Dave has a very good point. I suggest this......
I know nothing of rules from this period so, against my better judgement, I'll take advice from those who have actual first hand experience of skirmish level rules covering our period. When the time comes, i.e. after Ayton 2018, we'll put our heads together and make a sensible, well considered, decision on what rules to use.

You've still got a year to send us a draft set for review...

It’ll take him that long to write the section on basing!
That alone will go through two dozen rewrites and be around 150 pages long, font size 6 with no margins

Although I would volunteer to write something if a decent set can't be agreed on, I might even listen to EBs views this time

I have heard good things about using the Lardies, Troops, Weapons and Tactics for VBCW. But card driven might not work for a big multi player game.
Re: Ayton 2019 VBCW topic
I’d rather use their Mud and Blood rules as I think they’re a better set
