If I declared my secret identity I’d be ushered straight to the front.... and lynched.

Norm - Just walk up to the ticket booth and say, "Excuse me, I'm running the live vivisection in the cafeteria at noon, and I seem to have mislaid my ticket. Got the knives and saws, just lost the ticket. Any chance.....good man, thanks."

Well, that was all pleasant, a couple of sherbets on the Saturday & good food too. All very mellow. Show was good, no que that I saw, just a lot of people stood about doing nothing. Purchases - a mere three painted Napoleonic Saxon cavalry (that's a whole dbn brigade) and - did someone mention 1/72 plastics on the Saturday? - three boxes for £3 each from the BnB, Undead, Orcs, and Crusading knights of something or other. Oh, and a massive sausage roll & chips. Think that's it really. Apart from Jeremy is no longer a virgin. And York is fecking busy on a Saturday night.
Re: Vappa
Fantastic show! Queue was long and it was cold. Fortunately it moved quickly.
Sadly I missed the 12:00 meet up because I was having too much fun gunning down Fuzzy Wuzzies at the Sudan game put on by South London Warlords. It was cracking fun and would quite happily have another bash at the scenario.
I wasn’t as frugal as Peeler. 3 boxes of the new Perry Zulus, some of the Land Girls by Bad Squiddo Games for Ayton next year, along with their Russian Snipers and 80mm mortar for my WW2 Russians, and a telephone and postbox from Warbases. Bases I bought from them don’t count.
Thanks to all who participated, again I had a cracking time with you lot, and it was delightful to finally meet Norm.
As Peeler stated, I am no longer a Vappa virgin, and it was a huge amount of fun losing it!

I'm a Vappa whore.
Good show, I stayed til they kicked me out. Tried to get a demo out of the Saga man at Gripping Beast but he said "oh I'm only here to show people the difference between the 1st and 2nd edition" so they lost my interest in trying the game. I did buy some lovely Gripping Beast Crusaders to make some more units of knights for my LR army and a dog from Warbases to add to my leader vignette, will paint it as my Murray, who has just run in the house dropping turds.
Big buy was three lovely pre-made buildings in 28mm. Two for my WWII and one medieval building to make a small farm. All from Caliver books, I think his wife makes them?
I wasn't really tempted by anything else and brought half my wad of cash home. Very nearly bought some Warlord Games Normans and Saxons but decided I have enough to paint for now. Drooled over Empress WWII and nearly added the minesweeper/flamethrower set and a mortar team to my growing collection of Yanks but couldnt justify £7/£8 for 4 figures.
Spoke to Ian Kay about commissioning a Boer figure in 42mm, he said he needs an order of 60 figures at £2 each to do a special, so food for thought if this is a potential Ayton game scale?
I was open to starting a new period around 30YW era but failed to be inspired by any of the 15mm offerings at the show.
Kicking myself I didnt pick up the M8 scout car on the Bring n Buy, but otherwise happy with my purchases! Just need time to paint now but kendo calls!
Good to see so many of us! Shame it wasnt for longer but Ayton fast approaches!

Re: Vappa
Worth the round trip even if just for the midday meet.
Good to see Ilkley Old School after only chatting to him on the phone before and of course everyone else!
Purchases limited to some Gangs of Rome extras and some bits for the Ayton modern game (A Gaz truck from Sally 4th/Sloppy Jallopy and a little shanty building from crooked dice which may be of use for the game!).
In order to have someone for my Rhodeleland forces to beat up after Ayton I also picked up some excellent African rebels from Spectre Miniatures (Thanks to Whisky for pointing those out).
I was tempted by the forged in battle 15mm chaps (Specifically a Slave revolt army!) but didn't succumb and forgot to get some Roman buildings I'd meant to look at
Although intrigued by the concept of Imaginancients.......isn't everything beyond a thousand years ago essentially 'fantasy' anyway?

My IR 15mm ACW “extras”: a supply train set with wagons & pack mules - human and horsey casualties - a boer horseholder & trusty steed (civilian scout!) a herd of longhorns, a camp set with stacked muskets and cooking pots, and some labourers.
And a dog.
Also some “Hollywood” cavalry in braces, gauntlets and bandanas.
MY furnished some wrecked guns (and an impulse buy of 15mm sci fi Robot Cavalry!)
Dixon’s-28mm vickers team on the move, for my BA 8th army.
Top tip: if you’re quickest back into the building after one of the several ‘emergency evacuation’ false alarms... you get your pick of seats in the hitherto jam packed caff.
