Did we agree that trading among ourselves doesn't count as a purchase on the grounds that the sum total of figures in our collection doesn’t change?

On that basis I haven't bought about 200 Colonials from young Tim.

They really are very good - treasure them. He wrote a book on Yorktown for Almark as well - bit dated now, but still a sound read as a starter.
Good score Buff, those two are real gems, I used them a lot when painting my AWI collection. I have given them a place of honour in my Almark collection now. Despite not having the figures any more those are still worth a look every now and again. Mind you most of the Almark military books were top notch, as treasured as my Blandfords.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

I'd take the easy option of getting Andy to buy some, but a man needs a challenge.
Ain't gonna happen big boy. The way my eyes are behaving lately I'm giving serious consideration to knocking 28mm on the head.

Already tried Iain. The main pull for me is 50p a figure and a quid for mounted. Very tempted by either ACW or Russio-Japanese. I need more figure like another mouth to mop the sick from at the minute but having just got Charge or How to Play wargames my old skool mojo is whirring away.

Would also recommend Mexican Adventure range. Lovely figures, interesting variety - Belgian and Egyptian infantry, FFL FFS, and you don't need many to get started. Separate backpacks for the French give you even more variety
