These Done work should be straightforward. I just need to sand back the first texture layer, then either cut in the stonework or apply another thin layer and try out the texture roller. I want to check the period finish as well. A lot of the towers had the stonework hidden.

Nice work on the castle, but I have to say that that is THE best use I've come across yet for that dreadful Kiley "encyclopedia" - propping up something wet and sticky!

OK, next steps, sand back the roughest parts to get a relatively smooth finish, add gun ports, guttering and an extra doorway at the bottom level, and a doorway onto the fighting platform. Then next layer of filler, and start etching the stone work. I also trimmed back the eaves and filled the cardboard edges since this one was taken.

Once that's done, it's tiling, then painting and weathering. It's not an exact Claypotts Castle - 'inspired by' might be more accurate..

Excellent - very Scottish. How are you going to represent the pebbledash?

Nah.. pebbledash is for the cottages of the peasantry. I did look up the historical record to see if the walls had been rendered at some stage, but it appears not.
