A handy hint from the internet

Punic Wars were my second period (after Naps) - begun many years ago.

I started with Polybian Romans but left them to concentrate on the Carthos & a large-ish Celtic army ('The Licorice All-sorts') as two of my pals were also doing Romans.

I recently decided to bring my Romans up to scratch & bulk ordered from Newline. These are metal but true 1/72 so quite small figures.

As I well remember, painting sandals on such tiny feet was a challenge. A 00 brush & lots of patience. However, I found a Handy Hint from the internet....TMP no less (though from 2007, when TMP was still a wargaming site).

Simply paint feet in flesh colour, then, when dry, give them a wash with Vallejo Brown. Perfect.

Sometime next year, when the Romans are finished, I look forward to them clashing with my Carthos, Celts or even my pals' Romans in a civil war.

Does that technique work on full size people, too? Makes a change from black socks.
