Is this a loaded question?

Whatever, I haven't started them yet. Soon. I will probably start with a Dark Prussian blue and see where that takes me.

Any tips?

Thanks. It's all in the layers. It gives great depth of colour even over black.

Started a command stand this morning. Current recipe:

Code: Select all

Undercoat	Any Black
Base Vallejo 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue
Highlight	Vallejo 70.962 Flat Blue with touch of the above.
Wash Vallejo 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue (very dilute) with some black.
Repeat highlight and wash if necessary.
Only problem is that, as I've only done three figures, I wouldn't call this a consistent recipe. The officer's a different shade to the standard bearers as I did him first. It'll get better as I do more.

Hope this helps. and do remember it's a recipe for 15 mm.

Change to the blue recipe after post varnishing repaint:

Code: Select all

Manufacturer Colour
-- --
Any Black
Vallejo 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue
Vallejo 70.965 Prussian Blue
Vallejo 70.962 Flat Blue

Recipe
--
Undercoat Black
Base Dark Prussian Blue
Highlight Flat Blue & Prussian Blue (4:1)
Wash* Dark Prussian Blue (very dilute) with some black.

Notes
--
Add above average amounts of talc (blues are very shiny, even after varnishing).
* Only use wash if necessary.
This is close to settled now.

Very nice, Martin......as always.

I'm chuffed that you've found a use for, or distributed, the stuff we swapped. There's nothing worse than toy soldiers boxed up, forgotten and unused.

As I said in the second post the swap gave me hours of fun sorting out a big box of toys. I'm now working on the Peter Pig generals and will be posting photos once they are finished. It may be a while as some of the figures are swines to paint.

Thanks once again.
