What is your collection worth? Do you know?

I gave up trying to work it out many years ago. When your wife keeps horses, the relative cost of my hobby pales into insignificance. Even if I bought every toy soldier that even remotely took my fancy I couldn't spend what she does on the nags. I could take up power boat racing and it would still be cheaper!
Why us? Cos we're 'ere lad, nobody else.

But if the house burns down, she still has her nags.

But if the stables burn down you still have your soldiers
You can never have too much of something you never needed to start with

Yeah, agreed. I have never had to justify or hide the packages coming into the house as she knows she can’t win that argumentgaryp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 10:49 pm I gave up trying to work it out many years ago. which is why, you go for replacement value (higher premiums sadly) over auction value....Vintage Wargaming wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:03 pm It’s worth what someone's is willing to pay for it. The cost to you to replace it would probably be much higher.
Same with any collectables.

Given the attitude of many to parting with £5 or so for a magazine then that's probably not very much!Vintage Wargaming wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:03 pm It’s worth what someone's is willing to pay for it.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

Generally, small units of well painted figs seem to sell readily on eBay. There are clearly some well cashed up wargamers out there. I know I sold a few complete armies 20 years ago and got a reasonable price for them. Valuing stuff i generally priced double the replacement lead cost at my usual painting standard.
