A mix of unit sizes from 16 to 48 (so 160mm to 480mm frontage ) I’ll see what I can make up that equates to 240mm frontage
Re: Pointy Sticks Ayton Nov ‘21
Have you got enough to deploy them 4 deep?

It seems to me that I'm going to like Hail Caesar and Gary's interpretation of depth. Hail to both.garyp wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 10:09 am Both hoplites and pikemen benefit from the phalanx rule which makes them harder to break in combat. A pike phalanx gets a better bonus, which is why it's suggested pikes are deeper. Crudely it's a way of visualising the 'rank bonus'. Some spearmen don't get the bonus (my Mycenaean spears for example) so they deploy 2 deep. We can quite happily use 2 deep hoplites and give them the bonus anyway.

The rest are all Spearmen types, and Auxillia types
Re: Pointy Sticks Ayton Nov ‘21
4 figures deep, so 2 bases. 48 man units.

Yeah, I could do a 48 man warband

Jeremy
You need to melt your Arthurians and your Saxons.
I was watching the archaeologist bit, the doable one. And she reckons that the Saxons were more immigrants than invaders. Did their farming, paid their taxes, intermingled and got on just fine. No Arthur, no barbarians in need of an ASBO, just new neghbours farming cows and shagging the odd sheep.
