Disappointment from Newline

As you know, Newline are generally a high quality manufacturer.

I recently received an order from them, including this figure of Colonel Durnford of the Zulu Wars:



As you can see, the mould seems to be only partly successful, but with the figures' left hand being virtually non-existent.

I am furious. Furious, I say!

Everyone gets it wrong, the good people correct them. Did Durnford have two hands?

It's missing a leg.

Death of the gallant Durnford.

Colonel Durnford died at Islandlwana - exactly how, we'll never know.
Given that all of those who escaped were on horse back, Durnford must have had a chance but possibly chose to die with honour.



The figure looks better with paint.

Cynic.

He was quite hard done by, as I'm sure you know. Chelmsford & pals set him up as a scape-goat, with charges he found, post-Islandlwana, hard to answer.

And though he had the good Bishop's daughter to defend him, it was Victorian times & no-one listened to mere women, doncha-know.
