Delivery of a dozen Tamiya paints. They are the best for airbrushing. And the very charming young lady from the hobby shop delivers them in person.

Do you have a shop near to you? I used the one in an old terraced house on the edge of Dundee when I lived up that way.

Was that the shop I saw when I came up for the show in 2019? It did look quite large and well-stocked, albeit with a railway bias. Very handy to have in the centre of town.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

Just a little place in the Eastern suburb of Broughty Ferry called Space Craft. It's not far from me, and stocks Perry Plastics, Rubicon, Army Painter, Victrix tanks etc. Loads of basics, mainly kit modelling, but it's very nice to have a local store where you can just drop in. There's a young woman who runs it, who can usually be found painting or assembling something at the desk.

And LT, you're thinking of the railway shop in Kirriemuir. I'm in Dundee.

Agree on tamiya paints for airbrushing. They thin down much more effectively than vallejo for detailed work

Yep, I generally use extra jars, thin the paint 50:50 with the Tamiya X20 thinner, and it airbrushes beautifully, no spatters or clogging - the Vallejo Model Air range isn't bad, but not quite as smooth as the Tamiya - it's a different medium, and the Tamiya seems to be a finer pigment.

Yes I found exactly this. I was trying to spray some fine detail and couldn’t get the Vallejo to thin down without spatter at low pressure. got the Tamiya and it worked like a dream. I use vallejo air for most work though and it’s not an issue at normal pressures.

Just don't mix the thinners... I accidentally used the Tamiya thinner with the Vallejo paint and created the most unholy gunk. Or was it the other way round?
