"To simulate this, I will throw percentage dice every turn, and if/when a score of 90% or more is made, a brigade of 4 battalions will be removed from the table; creating a rather large hole."
We do something similar at Ayton when fighting the Gateway Alliance.

Nice looking table Donald - who makes the buildings in the centre town?
Re: Battle of Reichenberg - SYW
Sorry, VB. Bought at different times & places over several years. No memory at all.
One of the things I need to do is assemble a plausible collection of SYW-appropriate buildings.

Re: Battle of Reichenberg - SYW
Game over. The Austrians were doing well until in Game Turn #4, a brigade retreated from Franzdorff, leaving an ufillable gap.
Let it be said, they fought gallantly.
Set-up- Prussians:
The Prussians first attacked the Croats defending the wooded hills, on the Austrian flank.
Then advanced against the village of Rosenthal:
The redoubts faced a series of attacks:
First one was captured:
Then the village of Franzdorff occupied.
Then another redoubt fell:
The Austrians tried to plug the gaps with cavalry:
But eventually faced the inevitable & began to retreat:
It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday autumn in Brisbane.

I've never seen him play in person, but I gather this is also a tactic that Essex Boy uses with the Gateway Alliance cavalry - except his cavalry create an impassable obstacle by dying in droves.....
Spiffing game, Donald.
Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.)

Pretty close. When engaging the Gateway cavalry you can ignore the hand to hand combat rules. The relevant line in the rulebook reads:BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 9:33 am

"Reduction in movement upon encountering a linear obstacle"
Why us? Cos we're 'ere lad, nobody else.
