Unfortunately, whilst I'm fine with plastic, they don't seem to be as widely available anymore, even their own webstore is sadly lacking!

Given Footsore is going up 10% to 15% and they currently have 20% off, I may or may not have just placed a very substantial order from their Barons War Range to go with the latest Kickstarter

These days Shotton is a small specialist operation. I don't miss the end of steel smelting here. The first time I got posted here was in 76 when it was still smelting. I lived up the hill and you could see traffic descending into the brown haze that lay across the area.Wg Cdr Luddite wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:24 pmThats the stuff I use to make my bases !

Yep it’s pretty much concentrated on coated steels since the cutbacks of the 80s with the strip supply coming from s Wales.

We handled PR for the South Wales operation - British Steel Strip Products - which also researched and manufactured a range of rather impressive automotive steel products. I can recall our team being summoned to BS head office near Waterloo station one day to be told that, under no circumstances, were we to allow any details of a new order from Mercedes, Germany, to get into the press, as it would cause uproar in the German car and steel industries.

Yeh some impressive inroads were made into the European car industry until the Coruscating merger when the Dutch plant was allocated most of the continental Europe markets and S Wales struggle to make profits again.
I visited that HO on Albert Embankment a few times - it was known as AlbertStrasse . Later they moved to Millbank tower complex where - being in between the two floors occupied by the Conservatives- it got trashed as part of the student fees protests. Still I got to work quite a few times in an office overlooking the Thames at Millbank, possibly the most expensive floor space I’ve ever sat at.

This is a thread for posting about wargaming stuff people are buying, there are plenty of other places on the web where people can reminisce about faded UK industries.
