I still cant get to my workbench past the car seats and mega bloks but hoping to unearth it tonight. In the meantime I've revisited my basing plans for my ancients armies and come full circle to the origional plan of sticking with Dbx basing of the Seljuk Turks and x6 figs to a 60mm x 40mm for the Republican Romans, which will be OK for most things, Hail Caesar etc. In reality I'll probably be using Neil Thomas' rules for most games which can adapt to any basing. He origionally recommends x4 Dbx bases as a unit, with around 12 units in an army. I've just used x1 base per unit as per DbA and instead of taking a base out per hit, just use a dice to mark hits per base. This gives a good simple game with DBA sized armies. It worked really well with WoTR when I made two small sides from a couple of Perry placcy boxes. The Romans will work well like this with the 60x40 x6 fig bases being a unit, on table it will look a bit less sparse per unit too. Gives it a better look when the Romans deploy in the 'checker board' formation.

Just need to paint them and buy opposing Carthaginians and maybe Byzantines for the Seljuks to boot around.

Certainly a very fetching creme de menthe hue. The Pope drinks that, you know. It's why they have to carry him around in a chair.

Is that because of the new L'art Guerre book or MeG? Have to admit the former looks pretty good.

After finding a full 2kg of "Blemmyes" and similar i'll be going all out to do some North African DBA Armies in "the BC". Might even have enough to do something Syracusan too!

Weighing armies by the kg would be a great points system mechanism

I have way more 15mm 'Ancients' lead than I care to think about. Somewhere in the recesses of the shed are unpainted Vikings, Late Romans, Normans, Picts, and a bunch of painted armies. Another 20 or so 15mm armies are still in Oz. I haven't played 15mm ancients in years. All of them are on DBx style bases. My 28mm are single based on warbases sabots.
