Does that mean you are basically making an open bottomed box that you're going to build on top of?
That seems a shame as the strength of the system is the ready profiled edges for hills, rivers etc...IMHO

The other option would be to use a hot wire tool to cut your polystyrene flush with the MDF?

Yeah, but I am struggling to get polystyrene in usable quantities as 2m sheets are a bit of a pain to cycle 10+ miles with and the cheapest delivery was a minimum order of £50. Right now I am thinking of open mdf framework and plaster bandage like I have used on my model railway. I can get that from my local art shop.

Cheers, I have never looked at Ebay, didn't know they did new stuff. Still got to get this down by 2mm though, might get some batteries and fire up the old hot wire. I need these to be very flat as they are going to be my DBA board and the bits I put the buildings on for 40k.

I would be tempted, with the expanded polystyrene, to dry fit some into the frame and try to squash it down to the right level.

Yeh seems an idea, a rolling pin might get it down to where it needs to be. And any undulations can be ... well... undulations

Good show, well done!
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!
