It was accompanied by a pop-quiz question about which city was connected with it - to which I replied Hull (the black-and-amber stripes being Hull City FC's home strip at the time) instead of Venice (the gold winged lion on the red flag).

Re: Gonzalo de Cordoba's Spanish Arquebusiers
Thanks again for the very kind words and encouragement guys
Re: Gonzalo de Cordoba's Spanish Arquebusiers
Well, if the Lardies are doing a set of rules... I have a 15mm Milanese army of Duke Ludovico languishing unpainted in the shed. Although I suspect they will continue to languish and I will do 28mm instead.
These are cracking figures, a standard to aspire to.

Yeah, I have mentioned the Lardies Italian Wars rules briefly on my blog. I've been following every post on Twitter with a mix of intrigue and suspense!
If I tried to paint a 15 mil army to the standards I used to be able to manage I think I would end up chucking it in the bin. When I see Steve Dean's 15mm work, which to the untrained eye could be 28mm, I am just astonished at the level of detail he can input into those little fellows.
Thanks Doug

Pre 2016, I used to work pretty much exclusively in 15mm and 6mm, with ww2 stuff in 6mm and 20mm. Back in the UK, it's almost exclusively 28mm. Very different techniques required, so it's been a big learning curve for me with the paintbrushes. Looking closely at other people's work is a big help.Atheling_2006 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 11:59 amYeah, I have mentioned the Lardies Italian Wars rules briefly on my blog. The influence of other painters is a huge part of my onw techniques. My painting was pretty naff until I joined SESWC (Edinburgh Club) all those years ago. I was lucky enough to have Brian Phillips and David Imrie in the same club and there work, among others, influences my won to this day.DougM wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:01 pmPre 2016, I used to work pretty much exclusively in 15mm and 6mm, with ww2 stuff in 6mm and 20mm.
