Kickstarter
Re: Kickstarter
The issue is, someone else may not have shouldered the risk. Small producers may be unable to raise capital for a project in the various conventional manners
Re: Kickstarter
Then it wouldn't have come to the market as there is no clamour for it from the hobby. It creates entirely artificial demand relying on we suckers and the new and shiny syndrome. No doubt it feeds the Lead Mountains of the hobby...

Re: Kickstarter
I think you are confusing whether you personally like something with whether it should exist at all.
It’s ok, i make that mistake with Star Wars.

Re: Kickstarter
No, I really like the Welsh mentioned in another post but I've not previously seen folk demanding them. That's my point, it creates a demand that wasn't there using someone else's money. But, I do admit I'm apparently in a small minority of 2 on here!goat major wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 12:55 pm I think you are confusing whether you personally like something with whether it should exist at all.

Re: Kickstarter
KS projects like the Welsh aren't the sort of ones I feel totally comfortable with. They are a range that has already been created, hasn't used someone else's money to create a demand and is just being run as a "pre order" Scheme.Penda wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:36 pmNo, I really like the Welsh mentioned in another post but I've not previously seen folk demanding them. It's perhaps unfortunate that these become the ones people like because they run smoothly (mainly because the works already done).
As for creating a demand that wasn't there in general, I don't think there's been a "need" for any of the new ranges of anything for forty years (How many new ACW and Napoleonic ranges have we seen in that time, was there a great clamour for Carlist Wars figures or Pirates?). It's all about marketing your product and that's all these pre order schemes are doing.
Re: Kickstarter
I'm with you, Penda. Just show me a product that actually exists and I'll buy it. If it doesn't exist, I'm happy to wait until it exists. You're not getting a penny until then. If it never comes to fruition, so what?

You should both get a signal box together
Re: Kickstarter
It must get annoying only being able to buy from a Wargames show or FLGS though
